This is my entry for the Search for a Star 2017 Environment Art contest. for stage 2 I was given a selection of concept art pieces which I had to pick one and recreate in UE4.
All the tileable work was created within Substance Designer. I knew I wanted to do it this way and use tessellation in UE4 instead of sculpting each piece, tessellation gave more variation and a nice silhouette. The other pieces in the scene were created in ZBrush and textured in Substance. Rendered in UE4.
My overall placement in the contest was 9th out of 25, with the feedback being my approach was too modular and I needed more unique assets.
